Today I wanted to share some of my new and old favorite bands, artists and albums with you guys and who knows, maybe you'll love them as much as I do! I'm the type that will find an album I love and listen to it a million times over until I know every single note and I rarely like every song on an album. I'm not a music aficionado but I do so love some unique vocals and great harmony. Here are my five favorites right now!
Of Monsters and Men:
Pretty sure this is one of my absolute favorite albums ever. I love their sound! Just the right amount of pop mixed with beautiful vocals and folky sentiments. Relaxing to listen to but just inspiring enough to keep you awake. All the things I love to find in a band. I scored their album for 99 cents on Amazon and it was money well spent.

Regina Spektor:
I've loved Regina Spektor for a long time. Her quirky and sweet vocals had me right from the get-go and her music has gotten me through many road trips. I just bought her latest album and look forward to committing every lyric to memory. Her talent is undeniable but she carries an unquestionable uniqueness that is so refreshing.
Here is one of my favorite songs.
Kimbra.
Most people definitely recognize her name from the way-overplayed, but still awesome collaboration with Gotye on "Somebody I Used To Know". But she has a style and talent all her own and I am totally on board. The tone of her voice is really amazing and each song plays totally different from the next.
Check out this vintage-styled music video.
Casey Abrams:
Maybe it's the lingering hippie tendencies left over from high school, but I am such a fan of Casey Abrams and rooted for him throughout his entire season on American Idol. I always like to see a little passion behind a song, and it is very obvious watching Casey sing that he sings from his soul. I love that. Plus he is adorable. So there's that.
Here is a super chill video of one of his new songs, recorded on his porch.
I have strange and sometimes random taste in music. But I like what I like!

ReplyDeleteOf Monsters and Men is amazing. My brother just told me about them when I was visiting him in May and I've been in love with them ever since!
ReplyDeleteoooh we love all of these artists except that I don't think we've listened to Of Monsters and Men, so we'll have to check them out! I really love that Kimbra music video if it's the same one as the screenshot - when I introduced David Settle Down a while back he just kept playing it over and over and over, LOL
