I have a thing for magazines. It's definitely hands-down my favorite way to get inspired and learn about new things. I am a very visual person so a beautiful layout and colorful images totally draw me in. One of my favorite things to do is go to Barnes and Noble, grab a huge stack of magazines and a cup of coffee and pull up a nice comfy chair tucked away in the stacks. I totally get lost in it and always find it so relaxing. Today I wanted to share my four favorite craft/art magazines of all time. I'm just warning you... buy one copy and you'll never be able to resist again.
Mollie Makes:
After admiring this magazine at a distance for quite some time, I finally picked up a copy and after flipping through a few pages I knew it needed to be mine. It's definitely on the pricier side for a magazine but the content, tutorials and images are so amazing that I consider it more of a book than a magazine. I know it's a resource I'll come back to again and again when I need inspiration for my latest project or craft.
This knit, scalloped skirt is just too much. I wish I had the skills to make one of these. The magazine has a great tutorial on how to whip one up but it's all way over my head.
Their pictorials are so inspiring it makes a girl want to re-decorate all over again.
Anthology Magazine:
I picked this one up on clearance at Anthropologie awhile back because, well, when has Anthro ever let me down in any way? I was definitely not disappointed. The articles are so rich and interesting and the photos are breathtaking. One of the things I have always loved most about Anthropologie is their desire to incorporate patterns and concepts from around the globe and this magazine is no different. Plus, they have really chic, creative DIY projects and the most inspiring studio tours and interviews.
It's Stephen and Shauna from Somethings Hiding In Here!
I am totally making this gorgeous paper Rabbit Bust.
Uppercase Magazine:
This magazine can't be found in any bookstore that I know of, but you can easily order issues or subscribe online and I highly recommend that you do. Like so many of these magazines, each issue is more like a book and I treasure each one. Last Christmas my mom bought me a subscription and it was probably one of the best gifts ever. I'm completely obsessed and I'm sure you would be too. My favorite thing about Uppercase is that its a limited run magazine run by a small and dedicated group of writers and artists. It's highly interactive with many ways to contribute or be a part of each issue. (One of my Instagram photos was chosen for Issue #14!) I also love that you can find everything from interviews, design news, DIY's, roundups and articles on current trends. There is undoubtedly something for everyone.
Totally geeked out over this article on the zig zag and chevron trend.
Loved these reader submissions for name illustrations.
Flea Market Style:
This one is guaranteed to be a favorite for any vintage loving, creative type. I've never seen such clever and amazing ways to re-purpose vintage finds in the home. I would do every single project but there are only so many walls to use! This has also been a great resource for flea markets and vintage sales all over the U.S. I love browsing through the gorgeous interior photo shoots and tours. I just want to jump into the page and live there!
I love this as a way to use those thrifted suitcases that are too damaged to use for anything else!
This modular crate storage unit is so cute I can't even handle it. Love those adorable mini curtains!

OHHHH!
ReplyDeleteI'm also a magazine addict and have never heard of these magazines (besides Uppercase; if only I could have every issue!)
I must beg you to scan that leaf skirt pattern for me! If it's relatively simple perhaps I can make us both one. I'm off to get some new subscriptions haha
Awww why those magazines are not published in my country :( we don't have anything similar... saad

Beautiful! I used to be an avid magazine reader, but broke my habit of going to big box book stores. I might just have to sneak back into chapters ever now and then to check these beauties out. I also used to subscribe to Readymade for years, my one anual self indulgence, but they went out of print right in the middle of a subscription! I was devastated, it was a beautiful and inspiring mag. Maybe one of these beauties will take it's place!
